![]() And they had practically abandoned the game for a year or two already. Either they straight up couldn't deliver or plans had changed as time went on, or a combination of both. Their Kickstarter page is still on and a quick glance today shows just lie after lie, empty promise after empty promise. Take Mordhau for example, they managed to get something like 300k on Kickstarter and sold huge during release, but the team was entirely made up of knuckledraggers who were literally incapable on grasping any concept that is slightly more complex than 1v1 combat ripped straight from Chivalry. Instead of putting out a realistic pitch that the studio would have a very high probability of sticking to and delivering, it quickly became a game of how can I sell you the best dream, what can I say now to get you on board, to rake in more dough. With Kickstarter, they are getting your money well before you are getting the product, so whatever little incentive that was left is straight up gone now. This has been a long standing industry problem ever since discs became obsolete and you no longer had to factor that in as part of your budget, and it was especially amplified with platforms like Kickstarter. It is the lack of incentive to stick to your plans and deliver on your promises. If there was a pool of 50,000 > 100,000 RPG players who were prepared to pay $25 > $50 per game - wasn't that sustainable?. It seems like something went wrong, when it was a pretty good system. And if developers could have made some money on the side or done their own thing, wasn't the whole idea that they got paid more? Or did they somehow come out with less? After the coke and hookers and all that. ![]() But I'm thinking that the Unity engine seems pretty much built for grognard games and RPGs. I did back it, and I know they had more goals like an augmentation screen, destructible buildings and terrain, and I think they might have tried vehicles. It's the kind of game where I'm playing and thinking: "Ok, they made just under £500,000 so what I've played so far should be enough" and then they manage more augmentations, more kit, and the stealth system works, and they've got all the stuff the originals had, on huge maps packed with content, done things no other game I've played has done.and I haven't enjoyed a game this much in years. I'll try to do a thread/review of it when I know more, but this is exactly what I expected a sequel to the Syndicate franchise would be over 20 years ago. So after 8 years or so, I'm just starting to get into Satellite Reign for the first time.
